Seaside Hospital Radio Presenters
Colin Santer
Colin worked in the estates department at Worthing Hospital before his retirement and joining Seaside Hospital Radio in 2017.
Music has always been an important part of his life, he used to listen to the pirate radio ships in the 1960’s and 70’s and wondered what it would be like to be a Radio Presenter. Well some 50 years later he is living the dream.
His music collection now totaling over 1000 albums includes brass band, Latin, R&B, Pop, World, Dance and Hard Rock….
Colin presents:
The Album Show Thursday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm each week. On the show he features bands or solo artists telling their stories across the decades and always has a selection of popular album tracks selected by listeners along with shutouts for the many who get in touch.
Polished Brass Wednesday and Sunday mornings 11am to 12 noon and 10am to 11am resectivly. The shows comprise a selection of Brass Band music from Mill, Factory, Town, Corollary and School Brass Bands from all around the UK.
Reflections Sunday evenings at 8pm. Each week Reflections features a selection of your favourite hymns, readings, dedications, emails and inspirational music.

Dave joined Seaside Hospital Radio in May 1974, after a family member saw an article in the Shoreham Herald entitled, ‘’New Blood Needed for Hospital Radio Station.’
He did his first show at the beginning of July 1974, on a Tuesday evening between 8.30 and 10pm. The first record was “Here Comes My Baby” by The Tremeloes, a song written by Cat Stevens who appeared at Glastonbury 2023.
Dave presents:
Hour of UK Number 1’s Sunday 2pm to 3pm, where he plays singles from the last 70 years.
Late Night Love Mondays 10pm to midnight. Love songs to help you relax.
As Time Goes by Friday noon to 2pm, which features music from the 1940s to the 1970s. The show format was designed with the help of dementia specialists from the Hospital Trust.
Seaside Beach Party Fridays 8pm to 10pm. A mix of 80s, 90s, and noughties dance anthems and nightclub floorfiller to get you ready for the weekend.
The Beatles Hour Saturdays 8pm to 9pm (repeated Thursday 11am to noon), with the best of the Fab Four, including cover versions of their music and solo efforts from the band members
Reggae Revival Saturdays 9pm and 10pm, a mix of Reggae, Dancehall, Ska and Dub from artists old and new.
Malcolm Brett
Radio Presenter – Secretary.

Malcolm spent most of his life entertaining people and volunteering. In the 1960s’, he was part of an amateur dramatics group, the 1970’s saw him being part of a touring variety group, performing old time musical type shows.
He joined ‘Seaside Hospital Radio’ in 1983, after moving to Sussex, & shortly after was elected to the position of ‘Secretary’, a position which he still holds’ onto today.
He enjoys’ most types of music, but has a leaning towards classical, easy listening and dated styles.
Malcolm Presents:
As Time Goes By a daily programme between 12 noon and 2pm, which features music from the 1940s’ through to the 1970s’.
Classic Hits Monday evenings from 8pm to 9pm which features music from the 1960s’
Classical Sounds an hour of classical music on Monday evenings from 9pm to 10pm an ideal way to wind down, and learn about some of the finest pieces of classical music.
Bill Barwell

Bill has many interests that include aviation, photography, railways, classic cars, writing, music, and volunteering. Over the years he’s volunteered for many sectors including heritage railways, Air Training Corps (commissioned RAFVR), NHS, hospice, and more recently for Sight Loss Support.
Bill’s love of music, writing and volunteering led him to radio broadcasting where at Seaside Hospital Radio he presents the following shows:
The Music Of….. Music-themed documentaries Monday at 7pm and repeated on Saturday at 5pm.
The Jazz Club Wednesday evenings at 9pm finds him hosting Seaside Hospital Radio’s Jazz Club were your table is booked, the bubbly is on ice and only the best acts are booked.
The World Of Frank Sinatra A show about ‘the man AND his music’ Sunday morning at 11am – sponsored by Sight Support Worthing (SSW).
Rebecca Jones
Radio Presenter – Vice-Chair

Rebecca joined SHR in 2018 and really enjoys sharing her love of eclectic, toe-tapping tunes that will have you dancing, playing air guitar like you’re Hendrix, and singing or humming along.
She has been involved in amateur dramatics since childhood, achieved a degree in Ecology and Conservation aged 30 and admits to being a very slow crocheter and knitter. When not working Rebecca loves the great outdoors and is happiest up a hill.
Rebecca has worked for the fuel poverty charity National Energy Action for 14 years and gets a lot of job satisfaction from providing advice and guidance to people on all things energy related.

The Rolling Jones every Wednesday at 8pm, and repeated Sunday’s at 5pm. On the show listeners are treated to an hour of happy and interesting tunes, and a little bit of chat.
Mike Howarth
Mike hails originally from Burnley in Lancashire, where he spent many years supporting his local football team at Turf Moor.
He has a long tradition in the entertainment industry, from his early days as an actor appearing in several TV films and Coronation Street as an extra on the cobbles.
Following his move from the north of England he continued entertaining and has now joined Seaside Hospital Radio.
Mike presents:
Route 66 Country Mike’s passion for music includes Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly, Shania Twain and Garth Brooks which will be featuring on his show Route 66 Country.
Elvis Is Back On this show Mike will present all things Elvis, including some great covers of songs made famous by the returnee himself.
Lynn Davis
Lynn originates from Essex, were she co-presented a show for ‘Braintree Hospital Radio’ in Essex, following a move to Sussex she joined Seaside Hospital Radio in 2011.
Lynn presents:
Seaside Rendezvous an hour devoted to the music of Queen, on Fridays from 5-6pm (repeated Tuesdays from 8-9pm) .
Feeling Groovy on Sundays and Wednesdays from 3-4pm, which is an hour of ‘love and peace and groovy music’, mainly from the late 60s and early 70s, but it does include more recent songs that suit the mood of the show, and sometimes songs by lesser-known bands or artists, whom she has stumbled across and shares for all to discover and enjoy.
Her main music likes are rock, progressive (prog) rock, prog folk and flower-power music, including artists such as Queen (goes without saying!), Status Quo, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Pink Floyd, Santana, Genesis, Duncan Browne, Donovan, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Hendrix, T Rex, ELO, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Nick Drake, Curved Air, Cat Stevens, Al Stewart and many more…
Mark Stephen
Mark is one Seaside Hospital Radio’s well established Presenters. He like most types of music and can often be heard singing along while in the studio Presenting his shows.
Mark Presents:
Just The Tonic on Thursday evenings between 6pm and 8pm. The show includes a selection of your favorites from across the decades, some comady and a quiz.
The Feal Good Factor airs each weekday between 10am and 11am and Mark gets up extra early on Wednesday’s to help you start your day feeling good.
Richard Goodyer

Richard joined Seaside Hospital Radio (SHR), in 2004, & prior to this was a member of the ‘Worthing Hospital Radio Service’ which started in 1986 from Swandean Hospital keeping patients at Worthing & Swandean Hospitals entertained. In 2004 when Seaside Hospital Radio started broadcasting to Worthing & Southlands Hospitals Richard joined Seaside Hospital Radio.
Richard, likes most genres of music but especially the 70’s. His music tastes are quite varied and whilst he likes many artists, his particular favourites are Chas and Dave, The Wurzels, Queen, & Status Quo.

Christian Thomsett

Christian joined Seaside Hospital Radio (SHR), in 2018, from school & completed his training just prior to going to University were he continued to present his show from his student digs. Following graduation Christian has continued volunteering for Seaside Hospital Radio while working.
Christian, enjoys most genres of music but is especially fond of show and film scores, which is reflected in his Friday Morning show.

Bob is one of those presenters who loves to get up early at the weekend to help you start your day by spinning up some great music from his extensive vinyl collection.
Bob, enjoys most genres of music and you will hear a wide selection of top tunes from across the decades.
On his shows he plays tracks from his CD and vinyl collections bringing you some snap crackle and pop on his Saturday breakfast show and some very tasty entertainment News to get your teeth into on his Sunday morning show.
